Silvana Chu
Mezzo Soprano Silvana Chu was born in Hong Kong. Ms. Chu began studying piano at age 5, and she performed Kabalevsky Piano Concerto No.3 as winner of young artist competition in Yuba City California. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music at the University of the Pacific and Master's degree in Music at the Manhattan School of Music.

Ms. Chu has sung with the Connecticut Lyric Opera and New Jersey Verismo Opera as "Suzuki" in Madama Butterfly", "Mary" in The Flying Dutchman, and "Abbess" in Suor Angelica. She has also made her Hong Kong Debut with Opera Hong Kong and Hong Kong Philharmonic in Romeo and Juliet as “Gertrude”. Her operatic roles also include “The Boy” in Indian Queen, “Cherubino” in Le Nozze di Figaro, "Dorabella" in Cosi Fan Tutte,“Polinesso” in Ariodante, “Irene” in Atalanta, "Bradamante" in Alcina, “Prince Orlofsky” in Die Fledermaus, and “Stepmother” in Broadway musical “Into the Woods”. In concert appearances, Ms. Chu has also performed as mezzo soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Mass in C, as well as in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in her Carnegie Hall debut, and Mozart's coronation Mass in her Lincoln Center Avery Fisher Hall debut.

Silvana is also involved with contemporary opera productions and concert works. She has premiered several American operas, such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by Richard Peaslee, Shangri-La by Susie Ibarra, Beautiful Warrior by Chinese composer Jin Xiang, the Japanese opera Nasu No Yoichi by Kazuko Hara, and Easter Cantata by Chinese composer Huang An Lun.
